Martin Helmreich Canberra cinematographer Martin Helmreich has been a lighting cinematographer and editor for sixteen years. He is currently vice president of the Canberra chapter of the Australian Cinematographer's Society.
freeswimmers has Canberra's first Sony PDW700 XDCam HD Camcorder. Coupled with a Canon wide angle High Definition broadcast lens, the high definition images are stunning.
Martin had his first film as DOP/editor on ABC television on January 27 2008. It is an arts/culture film titled Eclectic Blues, featuring
singer-songwriter Merri-May Gill who takes us on a journey to the
Thredbo Blues festival to find out what is unique about Aussie blues
music. On the way she gathers tips, from some Aussie blues legends,
about how to write the next number 1 true blue blues song.
A specialised service we offer is aerial photography and
cinematography. We work with a very talented pilot Christine Farrell of

Martin's background includes working for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). This included work for; Australian Story, Four Corners, 7.30 Report, sport and general news and current affairs. Prior to this he worked for Television Victoria, Nine Network, Win Television, RMC Duntroon and Prime Television Canberra. Martin's work as a Canberra camera operator has taken him on four Federal election campaigns and various overseas assignments. He has worked on several documentaries, television commercials, and short films. His industry training and personal creative approach in editorial, documentary, commercial, corporate or underwater cinematography will bring you a unique product.
